DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
The Development Director is the person responsible for the long-term funding and public relations image of both Baptist Homes, Inc. and SON Valley. This individual will devise and develop certain on-going fundraising programs each year, as well as pursue applicable grants in an effort to provide the necessary funds for continual development and expansion of the SON Valley campus. This position is under the direct supervision of the Executive Director of SON Valley.
Examples of Work:
1. Increase the number of churches which are directly involved in active support, both financial and other, of SON Valley. One goal under this activity is to increase the number of churches that include SON Valley in their budget.
2. Conduct annual fundraisers, such as the Father’s Day Offering and Birdies For Charity.
3. Continue to build ongoing fundraisers, such as the Kroger Card.
4. Build the network of individuals who donate on a regular basis, particularly through Electronic Funds Transfer.
5. Work with the web designer to improve the SON Valley web site and to make it an active tool for both information sharing and revenue generation.
6. Develop an ongoing relationship with the local media so that SON Valley receives periodic positive attention, both in the print and broadcast media.
7. Develop civic clubs and church groups who are willing to become involved with volunteer activity to help SON Valley.
8. Develop plans for the generation and growth of a SON Valley Endowment Fund, the purpose of which will be pre-determined by the Board of Directors.
9. Work with groups to show them how they can be part of the SON Valley growth process and how it can enhance their mission.
10. Supervise a clerk who is responsible for the fundraising software, keeping the current donor and newsletter database, acknowledging donations and other items as deemed appropriate by the Development Director.
11. Work with the Executive Director on an ongoing basis to promote the interaction of SON Valley with the community at large.
Qualifications:
While no specific training or background is required for this position, it is expected that the person holding the position would be of good Christian character; would possess a good demeanor and disposition toward working with varying groups and individuals, along with the ability to convey the SON Valley story to church and civic groups; and would generally represent Baptist Homes, Inc. and SON Valley in a professional and appealing light.
A strong background in fundraising and grantwriting is a plus.
