Psychologist (Masters Level)
The staff psychologist provides a variety of direct and indirect clinical services to the residents of the ICF/MR. This includes but is not limited to writing and developing programs, including behavioral programs, and providing “hands on” services. This individual also serves as a resource person for para-professional personnel, and direct care staff. The incumbent in this position works directly under the supervision of the program director/coordinator, but he or she also receives guidance from the facility’s consultant, Psychiatrist, and Behaviorist.
Examples of Work to be Performed:
1. Conducts and supervises behavioral assessments, including functional analysis assessments, observations, and data collection on residents with problematic behaviors.
2. Writes behavior and intervention programs for individual residents, in-servicing staff on the implementation of such programs, and conducting program evaluation and revision.
3. Conducts a psychological evaluation on each resident in the ICF-MR at least annually. The evaluations shall include an intellectual, adaptive, behavioral, personality, and emotional assessment.
4. Maintains complete, adequate, and timely documentation on all behavioral intervention programming conducted on residents assigned to the psychologist.
5. Periodically, but at least annually review, revise, and update the facility’s Psychological department policies and procedures.
6. Serves as a resource person in the field of psychology for other professional staff and for paraprofessional staff.
7. Provides training in behavior and psychological programming.
8. Serves on the interdisciplinary team.
Minimum Qualifications:
A masters degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the field of psychology (ie.
clinical, counseling, school, developmental, or educational) including or supplemented by the completion of two (2) courses in psychological testing, and one years experience in the field of Developmental Disabilities.
