SON Valley strives to make single family homes and apartments available in the Jackson metropolitan area so that the persons we serve can exercise and enjoy choice in their housing, neighborhoods and community — just like everyone else.
We at SON Valley strive to provide the highest level of personal care to our residents. Our Direct Care Workers are trained and must pass a background check and a physical in order to work with our residents. Our supervisors keep a watchful eye on the residents and our Direct Care Workers to ensure that the best care possible is being provided.
Though we have our Direct Care Workers on site 24/7 to direct and assist when needed, our Community Living residents are largely responsible for keeping their home clean. This allows them to lead a more independent life and helps them gain a sense of purpose and responsibility.
Our Community Living residents have a large part in meal preparation. They assist in coming up with a weekly menu and also accompany the Direct Care Worker to the grocery store to purchase the necessary ingredients. Our residents are also responsible for cleaning up after the meal is cooked.
Our Community Living residents have two options when it comes to living programs. The first of these is Supervised Living which is exactly what the name implies. We have a Direct Care Worker who is there with the residents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Each Direct Care Worker works an eight hour shift.
